Our team of experts just completed this large fan overhaul and balance for one of our manufacturing customers. This eight foot diameter, 3000 pound fan assembly was being stored outside in the elements for years prior to us receiving it at our facility. The entire fan assembly was dismantled and the fan was media blasted to remove all traces of debris and corrosion. The shaft was inspected and the bearing journals were repaired to bring them back to the correct size. Once cleaned, the shaft was re-inserted into the fan and the new pillow block bearings were installed. We manufactured special mounting plates in order to safely mount the pillow blocks to our balancing stands. The fan was dynamically balanced to an extremely low G 2.5 tolerance. Our customer also wanted a custom made cradle built to store and transport this fan assembly safely. All the material was ordered and our fabricating team went to work welding the cradle together and painted the fan with a heat and corrosion resistant paint to complete the job.
